Electric tricyles in Boracay
Rizal Philippines | December 22, 2014
The tricycles are important last mile component of the mass transport in the Philippines. After alighting from major offloading zones in barrios or municipalities, it is the tricycles not the taxis that bring the commuter to their doorstep.
However, tricycles are polluting, noisy if not unsafe, (or are rowdy or undisciplined)
To maintain their viability, we have to convert their gas engines to electric motors, (with batteries) and ultimate recharged by solar power at their rooftops.
Some have done this and some were sponsored by ADB at a cost of P300.00 million
Such solar trikes are being used in San Carlos and Bacolod in Negros, and in Makati. They were developed by Technostrat and means less pollution, and more income for trike drivers. Solar Trikes from Tempo
Such vehicles are supported by Alternative Fuel Act of 2012
