Affordable power for the people
Rizal Philippines | December 1, 2014
More and more commercial establishments and home are realizing the value of solar as a wise investment. We invest only if the thing bought does two things: increase output and reduce expenses. Solar panel does both.
So it wa featured in Rappler that 8 malls will have solar power by year end of 2014. These are:
Central Mall in Binan gets 30% of its power from solar and saves about It was finished last September with 2,514 solar panels covering 7,000 sm of rooftop, good enough for 700 kW making it one of the largest rooftop panel installation. They are connected by 87 inverters. It saves about P750,000 in monthly power bills..
The other mall is SM North which will have 1.5 mW capacity, it will cover 11,511 sm.
Mr Leandro Leviste, 21 year old (son of Loren?) president of Solar Philippines names only 3 of the 7: SM North, City Mall Capiz and Robinson Palawan.
Why does it make sense for malls to go solar because Malls are largest consumer of electricity. DOE suggest that mall should set their aircon to 25 degrees so that we can help avert a power crisis.
